"Thanks everyone, we're on next week at The Evelyn", quips DC Root.
ROOT! ARE NO MORE! The final ROOT! concert at Yah Yahs in Fitzroy on a cold Friday night (20th August 2010).
The band pulled out all of the stops, starting off with a Best of ROOT! Intro Tapes and then proceeding through a cavalcade of classic "would be" hits from "I Wish I Was Tex Perkins", "I Still Call Australia 'HO", "My Other Bumper Sticker is Intelligent", "Spring Me Out Of Caroline Springs, Caroline", "Pauline Hanson Says There's Christian Muslims Too" and many more.
All killers, no fillers tonight!
They even culminated with some ripsnorting guitar work from Henri Kaspar Root, while Steve Root tinkled the keys, DC Root played the bongos (Yeah! WTF!!!) to Douglas Lee Robertson (aka Doug Lee Root) singing Christopher Cross's "Ride Like The Wind" before playing their final ever song, the unlisted mystery hidden track from their first album, "ROOT 66".
So long ROOT! Thanks for all of the good times!
I can't wait to see Damian Cowell's next project! ㋡
